Children's book author Jimmy Liao has gained a lot of popularity both inside and outside of China since his first publication in 1998. His 33rd book, The Starry Starry Night, is being celebrated at a gallery in the Huashan Creative Park. A variety of artists got together to present the characters and themes of Liao's books in a fresh, multimedia setting. His books have also been turned into music albums, stage plays, and feature films.

Markets fill the dark alleys around Lane 95, one of the other parts of Danshui. But nothing is too narrow for the local lorry drivers (two-lane driving consists of a game of chicken as to who has to back up first).
